The MDL Soundstorm is a large-scale, multi-stage music and entertainment festival held annually in a desert venue, attracting thousands of attendees with top-tier international artists. Spanning multiple days, it requires advanced technical infrastructure to manage live performances, video broadcasts, and audience engagement across eight stages. The Central Control Room coordinates high-quality video feeds and remote stage monitoring. Each stage required four outgoing video feeds (stage generic loop, emergency messages, and two backup feeds) and two incoming feeds (broadcast PGM and wide shot camera). PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras served as spy cams for operational and security stage overviews, not for video production or broadcast. Minimizing fiber core usage was critical to optimizing infrastructure and reduce setup complexity.

### Solution Implemented

BarnColor’s 12G SDI and Ethernet versions, with **16 units of each** (32 total), were chosen for their ability to cascade devices, streamlining setup and reducing cabling complexity. The 12G SDI units supported 4K video transmission for the four outgoing feeds per stage: stage generic loop, emergency messages, and two backup feeds, plus two incoming feeds: broadcast PGM and wide shot camera. The Ethernet units enabled precise remote control of PTZ cameras, allowing real-time adjustments for stage monitoring and security. The cascading capability minimizes fiber core usage, meeting the event’s infrastructure constraints.
